Nike Basketball Shoes Caused Heel Injury After One Use: Refund Rejected as User Error
On 1 September 2026, I bought a pair of Nike basketball shoes for my daughter for ₺8,000 from the Nike store in Emaar AVM, Istanbul. She wore them only once during a training session and her feet were badly injured. After this single use, she had to walk in slippers for five days because of the pain. Due to the design of the shoe, there is a very hard plastic support at the back of the heel area, and it is impossible for this part to soften or become more flexible with wear. Because of this, my daughter has no chance to wear these shoes comfortably again. Only four days had passed since the purchase when we went back to the store to use our right to return the product. The store sent the shoes for inspection, and after 24 days we received a written response and an official report from Barçın Spor stating that the problem was “user error” and rejecting our refund and exchange request. I find it unacceptable that a shoe, worn only once and causing such serious discomfort, is classified as user error. I am extremely disappointed both with the product quality and with the way the complaint process was handled. I request a full refund of the price paid for the shoes.
