MobiMatter Misleading Product Description

I purchased the "Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand 30GB eSIM" from MobiMatter, expecting it to work seamlessly in Thailand, as advertised. However, after activation, I discovered that the eSIM assigns a Hong Kong IP address, which causes unexpected restrictions – services like OpenAI and TikTok are blocked, even though they are normally accessible in Thailand. Nowhere in the product description, FAQs, or Terms & Conditions was this information disclosed before purchase. Customers have no way of knowing that their connection will be routed through Hong Kong, leading to these limitations. This is a critical omission that affects usability and should have been stated clearly. When I contacted MobiMatter support, they admitted that the eSIM routes traffic through Hong Kong but refused to offer a refund, despite the misleading advertising. This is unacceptable. I demand a full refund and for MobiMatter to update their product description to explicitly state that this eSIM uses a Hong Kong IP, which may lead to service restrictions outside of Hong Kong. Transparency is essential for consumers to make informed purchases.
After I published this complaint, I continued my communication with MobiMatter support. Instead of taking responsibility, they falsely claimed that the information about Hong Kong IP-based restrictions was "clearly stated in their FAQ." This is outright false.
I personally checked the FAQ, took full-page screenshots, and confirmed that no such information exists anywhere in their official documentation before purchase. When I confronted them with evidence, they refused to update their product page and continued to mislead customers.
This is not just a case of missing information – this is an active attempt to deceive customers.
I urge all potential buyers to stay away from this company. If they lied once, they will lie again.
I still demand a full refund and for MobiMatter to update their product page to reflect the true nature of their service.
MobiMatter continues to mislead customers. They falsely claimed that Hong Kong IP restrictions were clearly stated in their FAQ, but this is a lie. I checked, took screenshots, and confirmed that no such information exists before purchase.
Instead of admitting their mistake, they dodged questions, refused updates to their product page, and blamed customers for not verifying hidden details.
I have now attached our full email exchange as proof of their dishonesty.
Advice: If you experience similar issues, don’t waste time with their support—request a chargeback from your bank. Revolut refunded me immediately.
