Mercedes-Benz E 220 d Repeated 48V Battery Failure

I purchased my 2024 Mercedes-Benz E 220 d with zero kilometers in January 2024. The vehicle now has 51,000 kilometers, and since 2025, I have repeatedly experienced a 48-volt battery discharge issue that prevents the vehicle from starting. Every time I took the vehicle to an authorized service center, the battery was recharged and the vehicle was returned to me. However, the same problem reappeared shortly afterward.

During a trip to Izmir, my vehicle broke down on the road, forcing me to call roadside assistance and wait for hours. My vehicle was taken to the Bursa Hasmer Authorized Service Center. The first time, it remained at the service center for 13 days, and I was not provided with a replacement vehicle during this period. When I went to pick it up, the vehicle would not start again even inside the service center. Despite this, I was told that the problem had been resolved and the vehicle was handed back to me. The following morning, it failed to start again. This time, the vehicle was picked up from my home, I was provided with a replacement vehicle, and it remained at the service center for approximately another 14 days.

Eventually, I was informed that the problem was caused by an electronic control unit located underneath the steering wheel. I was told that because this control unit was not sending the correct commands, the vehicle could not enter sleep mode, which caused the battery to discharge. I therefore requested that this control unit be replaced under warranty. However, my warranty claim was rejected on the grounds that I had the vehicle's second scheduled maintenance performed approximately 2,500–3,000 kilometers late. The maintenance itself was nevertheless performed at an authorized service center.

No explanation was provided as to how a delay of a few thousand kilometers in an engine oil service could have any technical connection to a failure in the electronic control unit located underneath the steering wheel. I was not provided with any technical report demonstrating such a connection, nor was I given any concrete written explanation. I also cannot understand why a completely different and unfavorable approach is now being taken when a previous ride-height adjustment failure was repaired under warranty.

Even though my vehicle remained at the service center for weeks, the same problem continued to occur. I was not regularly informed about the status of my vehicle and, in most cases, I had to call myself to find out what was happening. We have previously purchased many vehicles from Hasmer, including the E-Class, CLE, S 450, Vito, G-Class, and S 450 Coupé. However, the way this situation has been handled has seriously damaged the trust I have placed in the Mercedes-Benz brand and Hasmer Bursa. The issue is not about the cost; what matters is standing behind the vehicle that was sold and supporting the customer.

I request that Mercedes-Benz Türkiye and Hasmer Bursa reconsider my warranty claim fairly, replace the electronic control unit underneath the steering wheel free of charge under goodwill warranty coverage, and provide a concrete solution to the inconvenience I have experienced.
