MACFit Staff Broke My Locker Lock Without Informing Me and Ignored My Complaint
On December 17, 2024, at 5:30 PM, I went to the MACFit gym. I have been a Macfit member for about eight months. After finishing my routine in the women’s locker room, I locked my locker with a padlock and attended the cycle class, which lasted 50 minutes. When I returned to the locker room at 7:50 PM, I found my locker door open. Upon asking the cleaning staff why my locker was open, they informed me that my lock had been broken. I went upstairs to speak with the consultant, who claimed that I had placed my lock on the wrong locker, prompting them to make three announcements. Since no announcements were audible in the cycle room, I was unaware of the situation. Instead of informing the group class instructor or coming to the cycle room, someone unauthorized — a sales representative — broke my lock. A lady from management arrived but seemed uninterested in addressing the issue. She made dismissive comments, claimed I was at fault, and stated they would not be responsible if anything was stolen. Despite my request for a proper incident report, no official documentation was prepared. The report was instead hastily written on half an A4 sheet by an untrained sales consultant, without a proper cause-effect explanation. Significant cash was stolen from my wallet due to my locker being left open, but management refused to take action and continued to sit idly in the office. I am appalled by the lack of professionalism, responsibility, and management awareness at such a large gym.
