We purchased a flight ticket through Kiwi.com for July 21st for me and my spouse. The itinerary was a connecting flight from Ankara to Malta via Ankara-Istanbul-Skopje-Malta. Due to a delay in Ankara on the day of the flight, we checked in online for the following flights. However, the reservation code for the Skopje-Malta flight did not match our surname. I contacted the airline (Wizz), but they couldn't help and advised me to contact Kiwi. I called Kiwi, and after several minutes, they couldn't solve the issue either. While we were on the Istanbul-Skopje flight, they sent an email stating: "We couldn't reserve your Malta flight due to technical reasons, please purchase a new ticket in Skopje." When we arrived at the Wizz check-in desk in Skopje to inquire about the situation, we were told there was no reservation in our name and that the flight was fully booked. We were stranded in a foreign country on a Sunday, and the next available flight was on Friday. We were stuck for 5-6 days. We had to buy new tickets, spend a fortune on accommodation and meals, and I spent hours crying in the airport. We arrived in Malta one week late, and it was extremely difficult to explain the delay to our managers. Kiwi asked us to send the receipts, saying they would review them for compensation. In the end, they only reimbursed us for the flight we missed. Because of Kiwi’s mistakes, we faced significant financial and emotional distress, but they showed no real concern. They told us to contact Wizz, but Wizz stated they are not responsible as we purchased the ticket through Kiwi. We have no idea how to resolve this issue. We will be consulting a lawyer next week.
