I ordered a white glass-door Billy bookcase from IKEA (order number: 311511231032186). Upon opening the package, I discovered that the vertical support beam was broken, making it impossible to assemble the bookcase. The packaging was extremely secure, making it highly unlikely that the damage occurred during shipping. It seems the broken piece was intentionally placed in the package at the factory.
As we were moving to a new house, we didn't open the package immediately and were unaware of the 15-day return policy. When we finally opened it and discovered the damage, I contacted IKEA, only to be told that nothing could be done because the 15-day period had passed. They acted as if we were responsible for the damage.
We trust IKEA with our purchases, and this experience has been incredibly disappointing. It feels like they intentionally include damaged items in large orders, knowing they can use the time limit as an excuse not to rectify the issue. I am extremely dissatisfied with IKEA and request that they resolve this issue and compensate us for our trouble.
IKEA responded to our complaint, thank you.
