Unable To Get My Refund

I had a reservation through Hotels.com at Drury Inn & Suites Birmingham for October 2nd to October 4th. Unfortunately, I had to cancel this trip because I needed to attend a funeral, which was an unexpected and sensitive situation for me. I called Hotels.com customer service and the agent who assisted me was very kind and tried to help. He said he was working on waiving the $80 cancellation fee, but as of now I am still being charged this amount, and I do not believe the waiver attempt will be successful. Given that this cancellation was due to a funeral and not a change of mind, I kindly request a full waiver of the $80 cancellation fee for my booking. My Hotels.com itinerary number is 72079458583559. I would like Hotels.com to review my situation with empathy and process the cancellation without charging this fee.
