On Sunday, May 17, 2025, between 14:30 and 14:55, I was shopping in the girls’ section on the second floor of the H&M store located in Adana Real Shopping Mall. During my visit, my sunglasses, worth approximately ₺15,000, were taken from the table where I had briefly placed them while examining products. I immediately informed the store staff and began searching for the glasses on my own. I provided my name and phone number to the staff, asking them to contact me if the item was found. At 17:30 the same day, I returned to the store, and when there was still no update, I called 112 to file an official report. Police officers assigned to the mall arrived and began reviewing security footage. Before the police arrived, the store manager and security personnel informed me that the cameras covering the girls’ section were not working and were out of order. This clearly indicates a lack of adequate security measures and serious negligence within the store. During the police-supervised review, it was confirmed that I had the sunglasses at the beginning of my shopping trip, but they were no longer with me by the time I reached the register. Since the situation remained unresolved, I wanted to file a complaint at the police station, but I was advised by the officers to return to the mall and speak with the security team again on Monday, May 19. On Monday at 10:30, I went back to the mall, and upon review with the police, I was informed that the camera footage for the 5-minute window during which the incident likely occurred had been deleted from the system. Although footage before and after that period was available, the absence of this specific segment raises serious suspicion and calls into question the reliability of the store's security system. It was claimed that there had been a power outage during that time, but I found this explanation unconvincing. As a result, I am filing a formal complaint due to the following: the cameras in the children’s section were not functioning, there was a significant security vulnerability, and most notably, the footage from the time of the incident on May 18 was deleted. I request that this incident be thoroughly investigated, that the store’s security systems be reviewed, appropriate action be taken against those responsible, and that I be compensated for my loss.
