I Was Scammed on Freelancer by Fake Clients Demanding Money to “Unlock” My Payment

While searching for small gigs on Freelancer.com, I applied to a few low-tier jobs. Soon after, I received messages from supposed clients directing me to contact their “project manager” on Telegram. I was told to reach out to a user named @Zoniah***, who then sent me a file and asked me to retype screenshot content into a PDF. They claimed I’d receive $2,000 after submitting the work.

I completed the task and was told to message @mrsjanepay**** to receive payment. That person sent a very basic “receipt” and claimed I needed to register on a payment portal to receive the money. Then came the catch—they wanted ₺100 upfront for the registration. That’s when it hit me—I’d been scammed. No payment ever came, and they vanished.
