Fiverr Freelance Job Scam Demanded $200 Connection Fee

March 22, 2025 7:34 PM14

I received a freelance job offer on Fiverr from someone under the name Q** S***. After we first connected through the Fiverr platform, they directed me to continue communication on Telegram.

There, they gave me a project, which I completed and delivered.

However, when it came time for payment, they contacted me from the number +1 (202) 977-**** and told me I needed to pay a $200 “connection fee” in order to receive my payment. They also asked me to share my ID and the receipt proving that I had paid.

This made me suspicious, so I did some research and discovered that the details did not match Quest Software’s official contact information. It appears this was a fake job offer intended to deceive me.

I request that authorities take action against this scam attempt to prevent more people from being victimized.
