Fake Facebook Account Using Deceased Person
My complaint concerns a fake Facebook account that was opened in the name of my cousin, who passed away on 27.03.2023. The account uses the profile @tufan.c***.71, and we as the family are extremely disturbed that a deceased person’s identity is being used in this way. We noticed this fake account two days ago, when a message was sent from this profile to another cousin. After noticing it, we reported the profile to Facebook as a fake account via the platform’s reporting tools. However, as far as we can see, the account is still active. I request that the Facebook account, which was opened using the identity of our deceased family member, be urgently closed and removed from publication. In addition, I request that the person or persons who opened and manage this account be identified as far as technically and legally possible and that the necessary information be shared with the relevant authorities so that judicial and legal proceedings can be carried out. I kindly ask you to take urgent action regarding this matter and to inform us about the result.
