eDreams Charged My Card for R195 Monthly Membership Without My Authorization
I’m very disappointed with my recent experience with eDreams’ flight booking platform. I booked a flight from O.R. Tambo International Airport to Harare, Zimbabwe, on October 2, 2024, with a departure date of October 9. I paid for the ticket using my Standard Bank debit card, expecting only a one-time charge for the flight. To my surprise, on November 1, 2024, eDreams debited my account for R195 without my prior authorization. It appears they saved my card details and charged me for a membership service I did not agree to. When I reached out to eDreams, I spoke with a representative named S*** at (+27) 21 300 2421, who explained that booking a flight through their platform automatically enrolls customers in a subscription with monthly fees. This is not something I knowingly signed up for, and I feel this practice could catch many customers off guard. I kindly request that eDreams reconsider this automatic enrollment policy and stop any further unauthorized charges. For those considering booking through eDreams, please be aware of this potential additional charge.
