eBay Refused to Refund My Returned Order

April 25 8:58 AM

On February 14, 2026, I purchased a Captiva transmission solenoid valve on eBay for a total of $49.66, including shipping. After the package arrived in Türkiye, it was held by customs. The official customs notice I received did not clearly state the value of the shipment or the amount I would owe. Because I was traveling outside the country, I was unable to closely monitor the process. When I contacted a customs brokerage firm, I was told that clearing this type of item could cost the equivalent of thousands of dollars in customs-related charges, making it financially unreasonable to proceed.

As a result, I canceled the order through eBay and opened a return request. The tracking information appeared to show that the package was being returned to the seller. However, when I contacted the seller, they sent me a shipping label and informed me that the shipping process had been closed and that I would not receive a refund. I have now been left without the product and without the money I paid.

I also tried contacting eBay through its customer support channels, but my case was repeatedly delayed without a clear resolution. I was unable to obtain a straightforward, written explanation regarding either my payment or the status of the returned item.

I request a full refund of the $49.66 I paid for the product and shipping. It is unacceptable that I was left without the item, exposed to unreasonable customs-related costs, and ultimately denied a satisfactory resolution. I ask eBay to review my case and process my refund as soon as possible.
