eBay Refused to Help After My International Orders Failed
I purchased two automotive parts through eBay—one from a seller in Spain and the other from a seller in Hong Kong. Throughout this process, I found both eBay and the sellers to be unprofessional and unwilling to take responsibility, which is disappointing for a global marketplace. Even though I paid approximately $745 in total, I have not received either of the items I purchased.
Whenever problems arose, eBay refused to hold the sellers accountable and repeatedly told me to "contact the seller" instead of taking meaningful action. I communicated with both sellers multiple times, but each handled the situation differently and neither provided a clear or reliable solution. One seller claimed they would accept a return but delayed the process by saying the return shipping costs were too expensive. The seller in Hong Kong initially told me that the order could be returned once it reached customs, but later refused the return, claiming that customs brokerage fees would be extremely high. I understand that import duties and taxes are a normal part of international shipping, but there was no reasonable way for me to know in advance that customs brokerage fees alone could be so significant. Despite this, both the seller and eBay insisted that I should have known the customs policies and placed all responsibility on me.
I also contacted eBay by email and explained the situation in detail, but I did not receive any meaningful or helpful response. The sellers have not been held accountable, and no effort has been made to resolve my case. Instead, I have been left to bear all of the financial consequences while the sellers continue to be protected.
I request that this matter be resolved by either ensuring that both purchased items are delivered to me without further issues or by issuing a full refund of the approximately $745 I paid for these purchases.
