Domestika Auto-Charged Me $108 After a Free Trial With No Warning
I joined the free trial campaign on the educational platform Domestika. I used the trial period only to browse the content, and I never watched any course from start to finish or actively continued with any training. Despite this, at the end of the trial period, without any notification to me, a hefty payment of $108 was automatically charged to my Garanti BBVA card on June 7, 2026 — as an annual membership fee, not a monthly one.
I also found that the Turkish content on the platform was largely AI-translated and AI-narrated, making it difficult to understand. Because I was dissatisfied with the service, I filled out a form through Domestika, explained the situation in detail, and requested a refund. However, in the article I was directed to explaining their own policies, it stated that automatically renewed payments of this kind are not refunded.
My order information regarding the payment is available in my Domestika account, and my transaction receipt is available in my Garanti BBVA digital banking screen. I have already canceled my membership in advance and never actively used any course. I want to exercise my right to the 14-day unconditional right of withdrawal and refund under EU consumer rights. In this context, I am requesting a full refund of the $108 annual membership fee charged from my account, and confirmation that my membership cancellation has been processed.
Finally, Domestika's support team responded to me quickly with what appeared to be a copy-paste, careless refund denial that effectively disregards the 14-day unconditional right of withdrawal under the EU Consumer Rights framework. I want to state that if Domestika does not take a positive step on this matter, I will initiate a chargeback process through Garanti BBVA as soon as possible.
