There are several reasons why you might be getting more acne after using the CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser. There is a chance that you are going through a process called "skin purging." This happens when active ingredients like benzoyl peroxide in this wash speed up the turnover of skin cells. This brings clogs from below to the surface. When you purge, your face may get more spots before it clears up. This can last for a few weeks.
Skin irritation could be another reason. Even though benzoyl peroxide is good for healing acne, it can be irritating and dry for some skin types if you use it too often or with other strong products like retinoids or exfoliants. If the irritation lasts or gets worse, you might want to use less of the product or look for one that is softer.
Lastly, not moisturising properly can make breakouts worse, so make sure you use a non-comedogenic moisturiser to keep your skin's barrier strong.
