Carrefour Ready-to-Eat Meat Products Sold Spoiled Before Expiry
Through the Carrefour mobile application, I placed several orders from your Antalya Konyaaltı store and purchased a total of 44 packs of ready-to-eat meat. The products had use-by dates of 13.05.2026 (5 packs), 16.05.2026 (18 packs), 18.05.2026 (20 packs) and 26.05.2026 (1 pack). Although the dates were valid, when I opened four packs with the 16.05.2026 date on 13 May, all four were spoiled and had a very strong, unpleasant odor. This situation seriously shook my confidence in the product and the store in terms of food safety. Following this, I contacted customer services. They tried to help and informed me that the assistant store manager had given a negative response. When I stated again that I did not accept this answer and explained the situation in detail, they said they would ask again and get back to me. On the same day, I went to the store and spoke directly with the assistant store manager. I was told that they could not promise an exchange or refund but that they would “look into it”. This response did not satisfy me, because I believe my unconditional right of return within the 14-day period is being violated, despite the fact that the products are clearly defective. The total amount I paid for these products is approximately ₺6,100. For these reasons, I request that all 44 spoiled products be replaced one-to-one with the same products that have a later use-by date and are not spoiled. I expect this process to be handled quickly and carefully, and that the financial and moral grievance I have experienced due to this spoiled food issue be taken into consideration.
Today customer service called and informed me that the store does not accept any exchanges or returns. In other words, they sold me defective products and have swindled my money. I will definitely continue the complaint process I started, hoping for an exchange, as a request for a refund. I will apply all legal avenues such as the Consumer Arbitration Board, etc. Just as Carrefour avoids compensating for its own mistake and is stealing my money, I will do whatever is necessary to prevent my money from being taken, in order to defend my rights.
I noticed that the products spoiled as their expiration dates approached and I called customer service. The store said it would not offer a refund or exchange, only take a step to resolve the issue, but it gave no clear commitment. So far, no exchange or refund has taken place and I received a negative response from the store.
