Sephora Denied Refund for $225 Weak Burberry Hero EDP Without Providing Lab Report
On April 1, 2026, I purchased a 100 ml Burberry Hero EDP fragrance set from the Sephora Vadi Istanbul store for $225. After I began using the product, I noticed that the perfume's longevity fell drastically below my expectations. As a premium-segment and high-priced fragrance, Burberry Hero EDP caused me immense disappointment by losing its scent almost entirely within just a few hours under normal use conditions.
For this reason, on May 8, 2026, I returned to the same store, filled out a formal customer complaint form, and handed over the product for technical evaluation. Store representatives assured me that the product would be sent for laboratory testing and that the findings would be reported back to me. However, after waiting over a month, I was merely informed that the evaluation result was negative, without receiving any detailed explanation or written technical report regarding the criteria used during testing.
As a consumer who has used various brands and products over the years, I have shopped at Sephora many times before and never encountered a similar issue. The $225 I paid for this product is a substantial sum, and a perfume applied in the morning losing its performance within a short period completely fails to meet reasonable user expectations.
My goal is not to make an unfair demand, but rather to seek an objective re-evaluation of my grievance and find a resolution rooted in customer satisfaction. My expectation from Sephora is for the product to be re-evaluated in a transparent manner, that a detailed written inspection report be shared with me, and that my grievance be resolved through a full refund, exchange, or another appropriate resolution.
