Burberry Sunglasses Shipped From Atasun Optik Arrived With Loose Defective Temple Arms

On May 9, 2026, I purchased two pairs of sunglasses from the Atasun Optik store at Forum Istanbul. One of these was the Burberry model 4216 300213 57 sunglasses. Because the store did not have sealed box stock for this model, it was shipped to me from another Atasun Optik location.

While there were no issues with the other pair purchased at the exact same time, I noticed from the very first day I received the Burberry sunglasses that the temple arms were significantly looser than normal. Because the arms lack adequate tension, the sunglasses will not stay secured on my face or head, slipping at the slightest movement and rendering the product impossible to use comfortably or for its intended purpose.

To resolve this issue, I brought the product back to the store where I purchased it. Store employees tightened the temple arms and handed the product back to me. However, after wearing the sunglasses just once, the temple arms immediately returned to their previous loose state. The fact that the second pair bought on the exact same day experienced zero issues demonstrates that this is not user error, but rather a manufacturing or assembly defect unique to this product.

Following this, I submitted the product to the store requesting a formal inspection under warranty. After the evaluation, I was notified that the product had been inspected and deemed "outside warranty coverage," and the product was returned to me unchanged. I believe this issue—which has existed since the very first day of purchase—stems from a manufacturing or assembly defect rather than user error. It is completely unacceptable for a pair of sunglasses' temple arms to loosen this easily and quickly under normal use.

Under Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, I demand that this product—which I consider inherently defective—be subjected to an impartial and detailed re-evaluation, and that my grievance be resolved through a product replacement, or if replacement is not possible, a full purchase price refund.
