BlaBlaCar Suspends My Account After Driver Files One-Sided Complaint

June 20 3:35 PM

On June 18, I agreed to a price of $7 per person for a trip from Izmir to Bandırma with a driver named T****** Ü*** through BlaBlaCar. The driver said he was in a hurry and asked me to board from a location of his choosing rather than where I was. Since he was in a hurry, I paid $9 for a taxi to get to the specified location. When we arrived in Bandırma, I asked him for his IBAN. Since I had cash on hand, I planned to deposit it at the bank and transfer it to him. Because I hadn't slept properly for about 3 days, I was delayed in sending the payment. When the driver asked me about it, I explained the reason for the delay and saved his IBAN. However, without any warning, reminder, or understanding, the driver went straight to filing a complaint against me, and as a result, my account was suspended on June 21. Our agreement was for $7, and at the driver's request, I had to pay $9 for a taxi. Given this, I actually believe the driver ends up owing me $2. Despite this, I was the one who got reported, and now that my account is restricted, I can't contact BlaBlaCar either through the app or through support channels. I'm a long-time BlaBlaCar user with a previously high rating and an established profile. A small issue I had in the past was resolved smoothly through mutual understanding. In this latest incident, having my account suspended with absolutely no opportunity to defend myself feels both unfair and like a practice that puts users at a real disadvantage. I'm requesting that my account be reviewed and reactivated, that this situation with the driver be thoroughly looked into, and that drivers who cause user harm through this kind of inconsiderate, one-sided complaint be properly warned and, if necessary, restricted.
