Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max Not Waterproof
The iPhone 14 Pro Max, purchased from its authorized store abroad, accidentally fell into a water bowl, leading to water damage affecting the camera's functionality. Despite the device's supposed durability and water-resistant features, as per the certification indicating it can withstand depths of 5 meters for 30 minutes, the camera is now blurry. On January 12, 2023, I contacted Apple support to schedule an appointment for the phone's warranty-covered repair.
It's crucial to note that I proactively reached out to Apple support, especially considering the product's purchase abroad, inquiring about potential issues. On two separate occasions, Apple support assured me there would be no problem, and I should bring in the product for service. An appointment was scheduled at Zorlu Apple Store for January 12, 2023, at 10:45.
Upon arriving at Zorlu Apple Store at the appointed time, the staff, in a rude manner, stated, "Your product is from abroad," using the phrase "We can't let you in, we can't look at the product." Despite reiterating twice that the purchase was from an authorized foreign store, I received no assistance, and the experience with the disrespectful staff member left me deeply frustrated.
Following the unhelpful encounter at the store, I contacted Apple support again, seeking assistance based on the product's certification. To my dismay, I was informed that the certification was awarded without any water contact verification, essentially rendering it a "so-called" certification. This revelation is particularly disconcerting given Apple's claims in advertisements about the phone's enhanced water resistance.
If you boast about a product being "durable" and more water-resistant, stand behind the devices you manufacture. Apple's failure to honor its advertised durability has seriously affected my trust in the brand. As a long-time customer, I am immensely disappointed, and I regret not choosing a brand that genuinely supports its products. I will not consider Apple for future purchases, and I will advise my friends and family against it as well.
