On July 31, 2025, just two days before my MacBook Pro’s warranty expired, I visited Apple Akasya for a general check-up. I specifically asked them to inspect issues such as retina coating, hardware/software performance, battery, and dust build-up. They told me everything was fine and returned the device. A month later, while cleaning the screen, I noticed keyboard imprints on the display that would not come off. I contacted Apple Support via video call, and the representative confirmed it looked like retina coating damage. He advised me to revisit Akasya, assuring me that since I had gone before the warranty expired, they would assist. At the store, however, the so-called Mac expert, Mr. Ö***, dismissed the issue, saying keyboard marks are “normal” and even if my warranty was still valid, they wouldn’t replace the screen. This is absurd — in the past, Apple replaced my screens for the exact same issue. As an industrial designer, I know this is clearly a design flaw, not user error. Users cannot prevent the keyboard from touching the screen. When I escalated the case again with Apple Support, the “senior” Mac advisor’s solution was shocking: “Place a plastic sheet between the screen and the keyboard before closing your MacBook to avoid marks.” That’s the official response for a laptop worth ₺110,000! No such warning exists in the manual or packaging. My advice to customers: Do NOT rely on Apple Turkey stores (especially Akasya and Zorlu) for service or inspections. Authorized premium service providers are far more professional and solution-oriented. Learn from my mistake so you don’t face the same frustration.
