Airbnb Canceled My Bodrum Villa Booking and Withheld Refund
On 8–12 September 2025, I booked a villa in Bodrum Karğı (reservation code hmcktawmza) through Airbnb, hosted by Mr. Ö**. I paid 23.400₺ by credit card for four nights and received my invoice. Shortly after, the host contacted me directly outside Airbnb, claiming he had entered the wrong price and demanded an additional 25.000₺. I refused and immediately informed Airbnb customer service. They assured me my reservation was valid and that I should not make any extra payment.
However, today at 18:34, just two days before my planned stay, Airbnb canceled my reservation unilaterally, citing a so-called “water outage in Bodrum.” I checked official local sources, confirmed there was no such outage, and shared this with Airbnb, yet my booking was still canceled without my consent.
Now my family’s vacation is ruined: we had already arranged time off from work, and our plans collapsed at the last minute. Airbnb informed me that my refund will take up to 15 business days, which is unacceptable given the sudden cancellation.
I demand the immediate refund of 23.400₺ and request that additional compensation be provided for the stress, financial loss, and ruined travel plans caused by this mishandling. Customers should not be treated this way, and Airbnb must take accountability for both the host’s misconduct and their own unjustified cancellation.
