Trivago Refund Complaint Over an Incorrect Hotel Reservation

I made a reservation for the Lucky Monkey Hotel in Antalya through the Trivago app, on what I believe was August 19. I thought I was booking a room for August 19, but the app created the reservation for August 26 instead. I made the reservation while I was at the hotel and immediately went to the front desk.

When I arrived at the hotel, I noticed that another group of guests had also canceled their reservation because the elevator was not working. Although I was extremely tired, I waited my turn. When I finally spoke to the staff member, I said I wanted to go up to my room, only to learn that I could not check in because my reservation was for the wrong date. I then asked to cancel my reservation. The staff member told me I had to cancel it myself. I explained that I was exhausted and asked for assistance, and the staff member said they would handle the cancellation. Since my reservation was set up for payment at the hotel, I left without paying and never stayed at the Lucky Monkey Hotel.

Despite this, $172 was charged to my VakıfBank credit card on August 25. I never provided my ID information, nor did I actually stay at the hotel. I cannot understand how I can be charged for a hotel stay that never took place, and I find this completely unacceptable. The charge was made to my VakıfBank credit card and has appeared on my statement. I am being asked to pay this amount by September 25.

I have been harmed by this transaction made through Trivago, both because of the Lucky Monkey Hotel's handling of the situation and because the platform provided no warning or protection throughout the process. To make matters worse, a substantial amount has been charged even though I never received any accommodation service. If this issue is not resolved, I am considering filing a formal complaint with the authorities.

I demand that the $172 charged to my credit card for a hotel stay that never happened be refunded to my VakıfBank credit card as soon as possible. If the refund is not completed by September 25, I also request payment of the applicable statutory interest accruing after that date.
