$285 North Face Jacket Shows Stitching, Stain, and Quality Defects

On March 5, 2026, I purchased a men’s jacket from The North Face website with order number D83AF-6426-626263. I wore the product only 2–3 times—barely used it at all—and yet I noticed feathers coming out from certain areas of the jacket in a way that made no sense. At first, I ignored it, but it gradually became more noticeable and bothersome. In addition, there is a very obvious stitching defect and loose threads on the right sleeve. There is no way this was caused by me; it is clearly a manufacturing or quality control issue. In fact, I only noticed it after a friend pointed it out.
There are also strange and unexplainable stains on the collar area, which should not occur on a product used only a few times. Experiencing such staining and deformation in such a short time is not normal, and I believe the product was defective when it was delivered to me. While printing my invoice today to send the product for inspection, I noticed another issue: the invoice lists the item as a “women’s jacket,” even though I purchased a men’s jacket and the product itself is labeled as men’s. This completely undermined my trust in the product.
I purchased this item during a discount period, paying approximately $285, which was not easy for me to afford. When I contacted customer service today, I was told to send the product in for inspection, and that the process would take 21 business days. Considering holidays and weekends, it is clear that the process could take up to 30 days, by which time the season will be over and I won’t be able to use the jacket. On March 18, 2026, I carefully packaged and shipped the product back to the company, including a detailed note on the invoice explaining all the issues.
I am addressing The North Face directly: due to the rapid deterioration of the product, the stitching and staining issues, and the incorrect gender information on the invoice, I have completely lost trust in this product. I do not want this item anymore. My primary request is a full refund of the $285 I paid as soon as possible. If a refund is not possible, I request a replacement with a new, defect-free men’s jacket of similar value. Please resolve this matter quickly, without extending it to 21 business days, before the season ends, and without causing further inconvenience.
