Steam Account Hacked and $84.98 Charged Without Authorization
On September 18, 2026, at around 10:14 AM, two gift card purchases totaling $84.98 were made from my Steam account without my knowledge or authorization. Each transaction was for $42.49, and as a result, the approximately $13 balance that was already in my account was completely depleted.
Shortly before this happened, I received a friend request from someone I did not know, and then I was logged out of my account. When I logged back in, I noticed that my balance had been reduced to zero. I checked my transaction history and saw that on September 18, 2026, a gift purchase for the game Silent Hill: Townfall was made, followed by a refund transaction, resulting in a total of $84.98 being charged to my account. I never communicated with this person and did not accept their friend request.
My account security was compromised for a reason outside of my control, and transactions were made without my permission. I request that Steam thoroughly investigate the unauthorized transactions made through the account associated with u**********@gmail.com, refund the unauthorized charges to me, and take all necessary steps to restore and secure my account.
