ShareChat Privacy Complaint: Phone Number Misused for Harassment

I am writing to raise a very serious privacy and safety concern regarding the misuse of my personal information on ShareChat. I am not a ShareChat user, yet unknown people have been calling me and stating that they obtained my phone number and personal details such as my name, age and place of residence through ShareChat. They say that someone on ShareChat has shared my number and described me as a person offering sexual favours over calls, and that they were told to call me when I am “free”. This is extremely disturbing, damaging to my dignity and reputation, and a direct violation of my privacy. This situation first occurred last year, then stopped for a while after we filed a complaint. Recently it has started again, and I received such calls again today. The callers clearly mention ShareChat as the source of my information, which means someone is using your platform to abuse and exploit my personal data without my consent. I am based in Palakkad, Kerala, India, and I have already filed a cybercrime complaint with the authorities and have a formal acknowledgement from the cybercrime reporting portal. I have also reported this matter to ShareChat previously, but the problem has reappeared, which shows that the measures taken so far are not sufficient to protect my privacy and safety. I want ShareChat to urgently investigate this matter, identify and permanently block the account or accounts misusing my phone number and personal details, and fully cooperate with the cybercrime authorities by providing all possible data and logs to help identify the offender. Since your platform allows anonymous use, I do not have any account details myself, and I depend on ShareChat to trace the person responsible. I also request that ShareChat review and improve its privacy and safety policies and features, especially the random or anonymous chat features that allow people to act without accountability and misuse others’ personal information. I expect a clear written explanation of how my data could be used this way, and what concrete steps ShareChat will take to prevent such incidents in the future so that this harassment stops completely. I ask you to treat this as an urgent and serious issue affecting my privacy, safety and mental well-being and to respond with a prompt and effective resolution.
