Samsung Z Fold 4 Hinge Issue Ignored by Warranty, Repair Cost Demanded



I purchased a Samsung Z Fold 4, which is still under warranty until March 2025. Recently, the phone's hinge started to malfunction, and it no longer opens fully to 180 degrees, likely due to dust buildup in the hinge system. The opening angle gradually decreased to 160 degrees over time, so I sent it to Samsung service for repair. However, they claimed the hinge issue was caused by impact and refused to cover the repair under warranty, demanding ₺22,000 instead. I never dropped or damaged the phone, though I used it without a case since there wasn’t a suitable one available, resulting in minor paint wear but no dents. It’s frustrating that Samsung expects me to pay such a high fee when the phone’s secondhand value wouldn’t even reach ₺20,000. I demand that Samsung reconsider their decision and fix the issue under warranty. If not, I’ll escalate the matter to the Consumer Arbitration Committee.
