On November 24, 2025, I made a SWIFT transfer of approximately $2,000 from my Revolut account to my Turkish lira account at Akbank. I have all the related documentation, including the Revolut transfer receipt, the SWIFT reference number, and the return (refund) reference number.
Akbank flagged this incoming SWIFT transfer as “suspicious” and canceled the transaction, initiating a refund process. During my meeting with the Akbank Aksaray branch, they confirmed—after corresponding with their head office—that the refund had been completed. They even provided me with a specific refund reference code. However, when I shared this code with Revolut, they told me that the code is valid only within the Turkish banking system and is not visible in their system. I have now opened a ticket through the Revolut app and am waiting for a response.
Despite my repeated conversations with Revolut and Akbank’s clear statement that the funds were refunded, the money has not been returned to my Revolut account, and Revolut claims that no refund appears in their system. When I went back to the Akbank Aksaray branch with my Revolut statements and transaction details, Akbank again stated that the refund was completed, that the issue is not on their side, and that Revolut is responsible. As a result, I am stuck between the two institutions, and my money has effectively been missing for about 8 days since November 24.
I request that this lost transfer between Revolut and Akbank be urgently located, taking into account the refund reference code provided by Akbank, that the funds be credited to my account without further delay, and that my financial hardship be resolved as soon as possible.
