Planet Fitness Black Card Overcharge - My Negative Review

Three months back, I got myself a Planet Fitness Black Card Membership. I don't have any issues with the gym; it's kept clean and in good condition, and I can visit three times a week without any problems. But when I looked at my credit card statements, I saw that they had charged me $40 instead of the advertised $25 monthly fee. When I asked the gym manager about it, they said they didn't know and recommended I reach out to customer service. I was told by customer service that late fees were applied because I allegedly made the payment after the due date. That's false; the payment was made promptly. It's not fair to be penalized with a late fee when you're the one automatically charging my card. They won't give back the extra money they charged, and when I wanted to cancel my membership, they made me pay the supposed debt first and then asked me to request the cancellation at the gym. I think they are involved in questionable business practices. I recommend finding another place.
