I Can’t Install Any Apps on My Philips 65PUS8609/62 4K Ambilight TV
I own the Philips 65PUS8609/62 65” 4K Ambilight TV, and honestly, I’m deeply frustrated with its limitations. This TV only lets you use the pre-installed apps—you can’t search for, install, or even access a proper app store. There is no Google Play Store, App Gallery, or any kind of marketplace where I can download additional applications. That is a major letdown for a product marketed as a Smart TV.
To make things even more confusing, the TV doesn't clearly state whether it runs on Google TV, Android TV, or a custom Philips OS. Every other Smart TV I’ve used has had at least some app store functionality. But this one? It’s like being stuck in a locked ecosystem where you can only use whatever Philips decided to preload.
In 2025, a premium smart TV that blocks basic user freedom like app installation is simply unacceptable. If I want to add streaming services, productivity apps, or screen mirroring tools beyond what's built-in, I should be able to do so. Philips needs to urgently clarify the operating system, provide an app marketplace, or issue a software update that unlocks full smart functionality.
