PDFSmart Subscription Charge After Trial Was Not Made Clear
I recently signed up to use PDFSmart from the UK and feel I have been misled into an unwanted subscription and unfairly charged. I took what was advertised as a 7‑day trial for £1 in order to work on a single PDF. At no point during the process was it made clear to me that I was entering into an ongoing subscription that would then cost £49. The emails I received from PDFSmart also did not clearly state that this was a subscription or that a £49 payment would be taken after the trial. On 17/06/2026, I discovered a £49 charge on my credit card statement, which I had not expected. I immediately cancelled the subscription as soon as I noticed it. In total, I have effectively paid £50 to use PDFSmart for a single PDF, and the service did not even work properly for the document I needed. I contacted your customer service and requested a refund of the £49, but my request was refused with the explanation that the subscription terms were made clear during the sign‑up process. I strongly disagree with this, as I did not see any clear or prominent information about an automatic subscription or a £49 renewal, and the emails I received contained no such warning either. I am requesting a full refund of the £49 subscription fee, given that I only intended to use the 7‑day £1 offer, I used the service for one PDF that did not work as expected, and I cancelled as soon as I became aware of the charge. I also ask that you review how the subscription and pricing are presented so that other customers are not caught out in the same way.
