Netflix Charged Me for an Account I Canceled
I opened a Netflix membership in 2023 and canceled it myself after using it for a while. However, while reviewing my bank account activity, I noticed that Netflix subscription fees have been charged to my card regularly without my knowledge or approval since May 21, 2024. Based on the most recent records available, I have paid approximately $46 since July 2025 alone. For the payments between May 21, 2024 and July 2025, I was not provided with any invoice or detailed explanation; I was only given information for the last year.
When I contacted Netflix customer service, I was told that my account had been reactivated on May 21, 2024 and had been used regularly since then. However, I did not reactivate my account on that date, I did not share my password with anyone, and I have always been the only person using my account. Despite the possibility of unauthorized use, I was told that Netflix would not investigate the issue, that they had no obligation to do so, and that I should contact the prosecutor’s office instead.
I called customer service three times within the last hour, but no solution was offered to resolve my complaint. I was only told that the most recent monthly payment could be refunded and that nothing could be done about the previous charges. During these calls, I heard statements such as “Someone used it, that’s all” and “There is nothing we can do,” which made me feel that my issue was not being taken seriously.
It is unacceptable that an account allegedly reactivated without my knowledge or consent led to recurring charges on my card for months, that no detailed explanation was provided, and that only one month’s refund was offered. I request a full review of my case, a detailed breakdown and explanation of all charges taken since May 21, 2024, and a fair, constructive refund solution for the unauthorized payments.
