Germany Tourist Visa Delay – Passport Stuck for Over 3 Months

February 13, 2025 11:22 PM143

I applied for a Germany tourist visa on June 22 through the waiting list in Antalya. My appointment was finally assigned to Izmir Consulate in late December, and I submitted my documents on January 8. However, my passport is still missing, and I have received no updates!

My travel date is at the end of March, and I have learned that the consulate can hold passports for a maximum of 90 days. Yet, it has already exceeded three months! Why are processing times so delayed? This is unacceptable!

Does anyone have experience with this issue? How can iData legally withhold passports for so long, causing financial and emotional distress, while charging excessive fees for their services? This situation needs to be addressed immediately!

As of this date, there is no progress, we are still waiting for our visa.

We applied for our tourist visa from Antalya to the Izmir Consulate on January 8, and the result came on March 17. Passport delivery took 69 days. As a result, they gave a 1-year multi-entry. The result was much better than I expected; this is my second Schengen visa. My first visa was a single-entry for 1.5 months from the Netherlands.
