On 30/05/2026 at around 00:00 a fraudulent incident occurred after I interacted with an ad on a social media platform, which led to my account details being stolen and an unauthorized transaction being made. The transaction of R494.94 was debited from my ABSA card ending in 5036 without my consent. I reported the matter to ABSA, and I have been informed that the bank is still investigating the case. However, the website linked to the ad has stated that I will not be refunded, even though the payment was clearly the result of account theft and an unauthorized transaction. With this complaint, I request a full refund of the R494.94 taken from my account and that the related website and ad be reported and blocked to prevent further fraud against other users. I also ask for clear written feedback on the outcome of the investigation and the measures taken regarding this fraudulent activity.
