I’m using the Gate.io exchange, and I’ve run into a serious problem. My phone broke, and unfortunately, I hadn’t backed up my Google Authenticator codes. As a result, I can no longer access my Gate.io account because the Authenticator is still active and I can't generate the 2FA code.
Even though I correctly enter my email, phone number, and password, the system blocks me at the 2FA step. I want to request a reset, but I can’t even find my user ID because I can’t log into my account to see it! This is an endless loop, and it’s incredibly frustrating.
I still have funds in my account, and I feel completely locked out. Gate.io, hear me out—please provide a way to disable Google Authenticator or allow access recovery through verified email and phone credentials. Not everyone can predict a device failure.
I need urgent help to regain access to my account and retrieve my money. I’m asking for the Google Authenticator to be disabled or reset as soon as possible. I regret ever enabling it without a backup. Please fix this and give your users a more accessible solution when 2FA becomes a barrier instead of protection.
