I Got Charged ₺5634 by EDreams to Cancel a Car Rental with Free Cancellation

On August 6, I booked a Hyundai i20 rental via EDreams, selecting pickup from the Izmir Alsancak office. The total cost was ₺2557, and the booking screen clearly displayed a “free cancellation” notice. Based on that, I believed I could cancel at no cost if plans changed. However, when I tried to cancel on August 8, I was shocked to be told that the cancellation fee would be ₺5634—more than double the original price. My reservation number is TR232092090.

When I contacted customer service, they said the cancellation policy was outlined in the contract, even though that was not made clear on the main reservation page. I admit I didn’t go through the fine print in detail, but the prominent “free cancellation” label gave me no reason to expect such an extreme penalty. The fact that the system misleads users by showing different terms on the screen versus the contract caused me serious financial loss.

Despite my efforts, customer service provided no resolution and insisted I pay the full cancellation fee. I am requesting EDreams to waive the unfair cancellation fee and correct this misleading practice to prevent further consumer harm.
