Columbia Shoes Split and Came Apart After Only 24 Uses

On July 26, 2025, I purchased a pair of Columbia shoes from the Fethiye Sportive store. Even though I have worn the shoes only 24 times in total, the toe area has split open and the edges have started coming apart. Experiencing this level of deterioration after such limited use raises serious concerns about the product’s quality and durability.

I sent the shoes to Columbia for inspection through the store on August 10, 2026. On August 24, 2026, I received a response from Columbia/Gözalan stating that my claim was rejected because the issue was not caused by a manufacturing or material defect. However, the response provided no specific explanation of what was supposedly considered user error, nor did it clearly explain what was actually found during the inspection.

I always take very good care of my shoes. I do not wash them, I clean them according to the brands’ care and maintenance recommendations, and when necessary, I even research the proper care instructions on the brand’s website. The fact that my oldest pair of shoes is 11 years old should give you an idea of how carefully I use my footwear. Despite this, a shoe that has been worn only 24 times developing a split at the toe and opening along the edges cannot reasonably be considered normal wear and tear.

Furthermore, two pairs of the exact same model, in the same and different colors, were purchased by my friends. Even though their shoes have been used more than mine, they have not developed similar damage. I chose Columbia despite the higher price because I expected to purchase a high-quality, long-lasting product. Having my claim rejected without a specific explanation after the product deteriorated this severely within its first year and after only 24 uses has seriously damaged my trust in the brand.

As a consumer, I expect the product to be objectively and properly reevaluated, with fair consideration given to who is responsible for a shoe that deteriorated to this extent after only 24 uses. An acceptable resolution would be a repair, replacement, or refund accompanied by a specific and understandable explanation. A generic apology alone is absolutely not sufficient for me. I ask Columbia and Gözalan to take my complaint seriously and provide a concrete, results-oriented solution.
