Cleanup won’t let me keep specific photos and glitches out — how can I stop Cleanup from auto deleting what I want to keep?

Cleanup auto-deleting or glitching usually happens when the app’s Smart Clean / Auto Select feature is enabled, which overrides manual choices.

Go into Cleanup’s settings and turn off Smart Clean or any “auto remove” option before reviewing duplicates.

When selecting photos, avoid using “Select All” and instead keep photos in small batches, confirming each action before deletion.

If the app still ignores your selections, force-close it, reopen, and try again without background apps running.

If the issue continues, revoke photo access, restart your phone, then re-grant limited or full photo access so the app resets its index.
