On the morning of December 1, 2025, at around 09:30–09:40, I ordered a Tag taxi via the Yandex Go app from Eryaman 5 to Atılım University. The app stated that there was a 20% discount for first-time use, and the discounted fare was shown as approximately $14. Therefore, that was the amount I expected to pay.
During the trip, I had actually selected Vista—located right next to Atılım University—as the destination. I told the driver that since we were passing right by Atılım University, and Vista was closer for both of us, it made more sense. The driver told me to adjust the destination point myself, assuring me that the price would not increase and that Vista appeared closer based on the selected position. However, the moment I selected Vista, the fare suddenly jumped to $18, and when I switched back to Atılım University, it increased again to about $20. Despite these changes, the app continued to display the estimated fare as $14.
I paid using the bank card saved in the app. At the end of the trip, without my permission, multiple small charges were made to my card: $5, $4, and $5, totaling roughly $26. The fact that the app showed a fare of $14, yet nearly double that amount was withdrawn after the route was extended, is completely unreasonable and damaging to user trust. Additionally, charging around $14 for the 3-minute distance between Atılım University and Vista is unacceptable and raises concerns about unfair pricing.
When I contacted support within the app, no real action was taken. They only sent a generic message claiming that prices may increase if the destination is changed repeatedly. If such a pricing system exists, it should be stated clearly and transparently in the app — otherwise, users feel deceived and taken advantage of. I also have a screen recording showing the amounts charged to my card.
As a student, this amount is a significant burden for me, and I have been negatively affected. I request a full refund of the amounts that I believe were overcharged and withdrawn without my consent, a detailed review of the fare calculation and distance pricing for this trip, and a proper resolution for this unfair situation.
