WhatsApp Scam Attempt and Advance Fee Fraud Report
I am writing to report a serious scam attempt carried out through WhatsApp and to request urgent action against the account involved. This week I was contacted via WhatsApp by the number +234 916 895 9***, which belongs to a person I do not know and who stated that they were sending me money. The person showed me what they claimed was a transfer in my favor and then told me that, in order to receive this money, I had to pay a fee first. Trusting this information, I sent a wire transfer of 10,000 USD from my bank account in the United States. After sending the money, it became clear that the supposed transfer to me was fake and that this was a classic advance-fee scam. The person did not send any real funds and only took my money. I have not yet reported this incident to my bank or to the police, but I am reaching out here so that this WhatsApp account can be investigated and, if appropriate, suspended or banned as soon as possible. I believe this account is being used to defraud other users in the same way and poses a serious risk to the WhatsApp community. I kindly request that you investigate the WhatsApp number, review its activity and communications if possible, and take the necessary actions to protect users from this scammer.
