I actively work as an Uber driver in Istanbul. On June 28, 2026, while I was carrying a passenger, I suddenly received a notification from the app stating "no seatbelt in the vehicle," which said my account had been temporarily restricted and could be fully closed if this continued. I received this notification while driving on the road; after safely dropping off my passenger, I immediately uploaded the requested photos to the system and reactivated my account.
Even though I uploaded images to the system clearly showing that all the seatbelts inside the vehicle were present and visible, having a record opened against me as if I weren't following the rules, and being threatened with account closure, seriously disturbed me. This situation unfairly puts me under suspicion as a driver and makes us feel undervalued and easily disposable.
My request from Uber is that the record opened in the system regarding this incident be corrected and that no unjust seatbelt violation record remain on my account. I also want an apology extended to me for this incorrect process that put a driver under suspicion, and I want drivers' photos and explanations to be evaluated more carefully and fairly when making decisions in similar situations going forward.
