I have been using my Turkcell line without any issues for a long time, but since the transition to the 5G network on April 1, 2026, my line has become almost completely unusable.
I am using a Samsung Galaxy A50 in the Esenyurt Kıraç area of Istanbul. Previously, the signal strength was very good, but now I either get no signal at all or only one bar. Incoming calls appear to come through, but I cannot have a proper conversation, and I am unable to use mobile internet at all.
I am not the only one experiencing this issue—many other Turkcell users around me are facing the same problem. As of the morning of April 5, it feels as though our service was effectively cut off. I have also read complaints from other users online, and many of them were posted on April 5.
It gives the impression that as soon as 5G was introduced, signal strength for phones that are not 5G-compatible has been intentionally reduced, and our ability to use 4.5G has effectively been taken away. This situation makes it seem like users are being forced to purchase new phones.
Because of the poor signal, I am unable to properly contact Turkcell customer service either. Since I am a prepaid user, if this issue continues, I am considering switching my line to another provider.
I request that Turkcell urgently strengthen the base stations in the Esenyurt Kıraç area of Istanbul and ensure that users with non-5G-compatible devices can at least continue to use the 4.5G network reliably as before.
Otherwise, both I and many other users experiencing this issue will be forced to switch to other mobile operators.
