Thebestpdf Enrolled Me in a Subscription Without My Consent
On January 2, 2026, I used the Thebestpdf website to convert a PDF file as a one-time service and paid $1 with my Yapı Kredi credit card for that transaction. At the time of payment, I understood that I was only paying for a single PDF conversion. I was never clearly informed that I was enrolling in a subscription, nor did I provide explicit consent for any recurring charges. The dollar amounts are based on the current USD/TRY exchange rate and rounded to the nearest whole dollar.
After carefully reviewing my credit card statements, I discovered that I had been charged $35 on February 8, 2026, $35 on March 8, 2026, $35 on April 8, 2026, $35 on May 8, 2026, and $35 on June 8, 2026. Over the course of five months, a total of $175 was withdrawn from my credit card without my knowledge. Because I did not regularly review my card statements, I was unaware of these recurring charges during that period, and I never received any notification, email, SMS, or other warning about them. As soon as I discovered the unauthorized payments, I immediately canceled my credit card.
I have suffered significant financial harm because Thebestpdf enrolled me in a subscription without my knowledge or explicit authorization and continued collecting recurring payments for five months. As a result, I have completely lost my trust in this company. Aside from the $1 payment that I knowingly approved for the one-time PDF conversion, I demand a full and immediate refund of the $175 that was charged to my credit card without my permission. I also request a clear written explanation describing how this unauthorized subscription was activated and why I was never informed about these recurring charges.
