On April 15, 2025, I was involved in a serious traffic accident with my 2022 Opel Combo Life (license plate: 34 FKP 2**). The vehicle sustained heavy damage, even rolling over. Despite the severity of the crash, none of the airbag systems deployed. This poses a serious safety risk and represents a critical failure of the vehicle’s safety mechanisms. Following the accident, I submitted written complaints to Opel Turkey and Stellantis Turkey on May 5 and May 26, 2025, requesting: A technical report explaining why the airbag system failed to deploy, An official evaluation on whether this issue constitutes a hidden defect or manufacturing fault, A fair and reasonable resolution to be provided by Opel. However, to date, I have not received any written response. I was contacted only a few times by a customer representative who informed me that “the investigation is ongoing.” No outcome, no resolution, and no satisfactory explanation have been shared. This lack of interest is not an isolated incident. My family has been loyal to brands under the Opel/Stellantis umbrella for many years: In 2003, my father purchased a brand-new Opel Zafira 1.6 Elegance, In 2013, my mother bought a brand-new Opel Astra GTC 1.4 Turbo, In 2021, my wife purchased a used Citroën C3, In 2022, she bought a brand-new Citroën C4, In 2023, i bought 1997 model second hand Opel Vectra 2.5 And in December 2022, I purchased the brand-new Opel Combo Life Ultimate, which is the vehicle involved in this case. This history clearly reflects our long-standing trust in the brand. However, this incident and the careless, dismissive, and unprofessional approach taken by Opel/Stellantis Turkey have completely eroded our confidence in the brand. I am currently abroad. Upon my return to Turkey, I will: File a formal complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board, Initiate legal proceedings through the Consumer Court, And if necessary, support my case with expert and independent technical reports. For a matter that directly involves life-threatening safety concerns, the indifference shown by a brand like Opel is unacceptable—both legally and ethically.
