Sixt Charged €160 for Fuel After Staff Said Return Empty
On May 28, 2026, we traveled from Turkey to Germany for a 5-day vacation and had booked a rental car through Sixt approximately 15 days in advance. Because we paid with a virtual card, when we arrived at the Sixt branch at Stuttgart Airport to pick up the vehicle, they refused to accept that payment — forcing us to cancel the reservation and make an entirely new booking on the spot.
For the new rental, we were told the total would come to €505, including full insurance and fuel. During the discussion, the staff member even offered us a complimentary upgrade to a higher-model vehicle under the same terms, and we agreed on that basis. We paid the €505, and we were assured that the amount previously charged to our virtual card would be refunded. That refund never came.
On top of that, we were explicitly told at the time of return that we could bring the car back with an empty tank — yet after we returned to Turkey, an additional €160 was taken from our account. We have receipts proving our payment, as well as the paperwork filled out and signed by the Sixt representative detailing all agreed terms — and yet the refund we are owed has still not been made, while an additional unauthorized charge was taken after the fact.
My reservation/rental reference number is 9734435507 and my customer account number is 120364025. In light of all of this, I am demanding the immediate refund of my original payment as well as the €160 taken afterward — in short, every amount that was wrongfully charged to me. I believe I have been seriously wronged throughout this process and I expect my rights to be fully protected.
