Sixt Charged $1,489 After I Returned My Rental Car on Time
On June 28, 2026, I rented a vehicle from the Sixt Offenbach branch under reservation number 9612262980. I was instructed to return the vehicle to the rental car return area at Munich Airport at 9:00 AM on June 30, 2026, with the key left inside the vehicle, in accordance with the rental agreement. I followed these instructions, returned the vehicle as directed, and flew from Munich to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport that same day. Official records of my June 30, 2026 flight and my entry into Türkiye through Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport clearly confirm that I was in Türkiye on that date.
Despite this, I noticed that multiple charges were made to my credit card under the name Sixt on different dates. A total of $1,489.66 was charged through various transactions, and the invoice I received states that the vehicle was returned on July 9, 2026, at 12:40 PM. Since official records show that I was in Türkiye at that date and time, it was physically impossible for me to have returned the vehicle then. I returned the vehicle on the morning of June 30 to the designated location in accordance with the written instructions I had received. Treating the rental as though I had returned the vehicle late and charging these amounts to my card is completely unjustified.
I contacted Sixt both by email and through its WhatsApp support line to explain the situation. I provided them with an official document from the General Directorate of Security showing my entry and exit dates, my boarding pass for the Munich–Istanbul flight on June 30, 2026, and the flight confirmation sent by AJet. Since I did not physically keep the fuel receipt, I also sent them the bank authorization code for the fuel purchase and my credit card statement by email. Despite all of these official documents and supporting evidence, I was asked to provide the fuel receipt again, and then received no response whatsoever to the authorization information I had provided. This has caused me serious inconvenience as a customer.
Despite the entry and exit records, flight documents, credit card transactions, and written return instructions I provided, I do not accept the failure to refund the unjustified $1,489.66 in charges taken from my card. Considering that I returned the vehicle on June 30, 2026, on time and in accordance with the instructions provided, I request that the entire amount improperly charged to my card be refunded to me immediately and that I receive a clear written explanation regarding these charges and the actions taken.
