PDFSmart Unauthorized Recurring Charges - Refund Request Refused

I subscribed to Pdfsmart for a 7‑day trial, for which I knowingly paid, but I was not aware that this would convert into a recurring paid subscription. After the trial, a payment of $49.99 USD was taken from my Visa credit card, posted on June 30, without my clear consent or understanding that a recurring charge would be made. As soon as I noticed the charge, I contacted Pdfsmart by email and requested cancellation and a refund. In their response, they stated that the renewal terms were displayed during sign‑up and that the subscription renews automatically unless cancelled before the end of the trial. They also mentioned that the renewal payment of $49.99 USD was processed on 29/06/2026, before they received my cancellation request, and therefore they refused to refund the amount, explaining that the fee is based on continued access to the platform, regardless of whether I actually used the service after renewal. They have since cancelled my subscription, but they still refuse to refund the money taken. I did not intend to continue with a paid subscription beyond the 7‑day trial and was not clearly informed in a way I understood that a recurring payment of $49.99 USD would be charged automatically. I consider this renewal and the refusal to refund unfair, especially given that I did not plan to use the service after the trial. I kindly request that Pdfsmart refund the $49.99 USD renewal payment that was charged to my card and ensure that no further charges are made in the future.
