ManyChat is counting inactive contacts for billing, how can I reduce these costs?

ManyChat now bills based on “active contacts,” meaning anyone who interacts with your automation within a billing cycle, and this count resets monthly.

However, if contacts engage even once in that cycle, they will still be counted for that month even if you delete them afterward.

To reduce costs, focus on preventing low-quality or one-time users from becoming active contacts by limiting unnecessary triggers, broadcasts, or viral flows that attract unqualified traffic.

You should also regularly clean your database by deleting irrelevant contacts, since unsubscribing or opting out alone may not reduce billing tiers.

A more effective strategy is to automate filtering, for example removing or opting out users who haven’t interacted for 30 days or lack key data like email or phone.

This keeps only high-value contacts in your system and avoids paying for users who don’t contribute to your business.

Do you have another way to solve it? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.
