If Kotex pads develop a weird smell during use, it’s usually normal—but you can reduce or prevent it with a few simple steps:
Understand the cause first;
• Odor comes from blood + bacteria + air exposure
• It’s not usually the pad itself
But stronger smell can happen with longer wear.
Change pads more often;
• Every 3–4 hours (or sooner if flow is heavy)
• Overnight → change immediately in the morning
The longer it sits, the stronger the odor.
Choose unscented pads;
• Avoid heavily scented versions
• Fragrance can mix with natural odor and smell worse
Unscented is usually better for hygiene.
Improve hygiene;
• Wash with water (or mild soap) during changes
• Keep the area dry before putting a new pad
Moisture increases odor.
Wear breathable underwear;
• Use cotton underwear
• Avoid tight, non-breathable fabrics
Airflow helps reduce smell.
Stay hydrated;
• Drinking water can reduce strong body odors
Also helps overall balance.
Watch for unusual signs;
• Very strong, fishy, or unusual odor
• Itching, irritation, or discharge
These may indicate an infection → see a doctor.
